Annie Lane Byrom grew up right here in Austin. She has been involved in musical pursuits since elementary school. Annie plays piano and guitar, sings in church and high school choirs, and has performed in high school musicals. She received a bachelor's degree in Music Education from Baylor University in 2007 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in choral conducting from The University of Texas where she is the Director of The Women's Chorus at U.T. She graduates in May of 2009
Annie was a Texas Music Educators Association All-State Choir member in 2001, and an All-Region Choir member from 2001-2003. In the summer of 2006, she was chosen to represent Baylor University as a conductor at the Texas Choral Directors Association annual conference in San Antonio, where she conducted a new work by the noted composer Elanor Daley.
St. Matthew's has been Annie's church home since 2003 when she began attending with her family. After graduating from Baylor, she moved back to Austin in 2007 when she was hired as the soprano section leader for the St. Matthew’s Choir. Since then she has performed on Sunday mornings and for special occasions as a soloist, a member of a small ensemble, a member of the choir, and occasionally, a piano accompanist. In December of 2007 Annie became the Choral Director of The Parish Choir.
Her parents, Jim and Sally, are active members at St. Matthew’s. Both her brother Jack and her sister Ellie have performed as soloists and members of small ensembles for the St. Matthew’s Choir.
