
JEAN FARRIS FULLER, a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, began her career as organist/pianist in a small Baptist church in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of twelve. She is a member of the Creek Muskogee Tribe of Oklahoma. She received a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Pittsburg State University 1970 in Pittsburg, Kansas, and a master’s degree in organ performance in 1983 from The University of Texas.
As a professional musician, Jean has held organist positions in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. She came to us at St. Matthew’s after having served St. David’s Episcopal Church for 16 years. She created and administrated the Caroling at Noon Concert Series during Advent and the Lenten Sacred Concert series at the church. A well-known organist/keyboardist in the Central Texas area, she has accompanied the Austin Civic Chorus, Austin Vocal Arts Ensemble under the direction of Dr. David Stevens and was chapel musician for St. Andrew’s Upper School, Austin. A member of the American Guild of Organists and The Association of Anglican Musicians, she has performed with the Austin Symphony Orchestra, The University of Texas Choral Department, Silent Movie Series at The Paramount Theatre in Austin , The Wimberly Community Chorus , Lake Travis High School and Vista Ridge High School, Leander. Her first role in a movie production, Waiting for Guffman, was released in 1997 and of course, she was the piano player! She also has given numerous solo concerts in England, Wales and Germany and in the United States including St. Thomas Church Fifth Avenue, New York City, The National Cathedral, Washington, D.C. and The University of Texas Great Organ Series, Austin.
Jean is a breast cancer survivor who has maintained an active performance schedule, touring with the St. David’s Parish Choir as soloist and accompanist on their international tours to Europe and England. Jean is married to CW4 George Fuller, who recently completed a tour of duty in Iraq with the Texas National Guard as Safety Officer and Apache Helicopter pilot.
