Our life as a faith community lies in the commitment and responsibility to care for, support and encourage one another, especially in times of crises and difficulty. Through hospital visits, home communion, referral resources, intercessory prayer and pastoral counsel, the St. Matthew’s community walks with those dealing with the many challenges of life.
We have the following Pastoral Care ministry groups:
- Community of Hope: Pastoral Care Visit
- Order of St. Luke: Prayer Support
- Grief Ministry: Grief Recovery Group
- Care for the Caregiver: Provides information regarding local resources and referrals for aging care, support upon hospital discharge and support for both interim and long-term care for anyone, any age.
- Eucharist Visitors: Home Communion
- Prayer Shawl Ministry: Provides prayer shawls for those who are suffering from an illness so they feel loved and comforted.
- Take Them A Meal: Provides meals for members when there is a need.
- Threads of Love: A sewing and needlework outreach to premature and sick infants and to those too tiny or sick to survive.

The Pastoral Care Council will oversee a comprehensive Parish Pastoral Care Program in which clergy, staff and laity can mutually participate and together serve the pastoral needs of the congregation while nurturing a trusting, loving, and caring environment in the parish. The Council has establish a methodology for recording and communicating pastoral care needs which is available through this website.
A member of the parish and pastoral leader of the Community of Hope, Betty Daniel, has been designated by the Rector as the Pastoral Care Coordinator to communicate and refer care concerns of the Parish community with the pastoral shepherding of the Rev. Dorothy Robinson. The Pastoral Care Council membership consists of a Chairman, Dyke Miller; Coordinator, Betty Daniel, Clergy Pastoral Advisor, Rev. Dorothy Robinson.
It shall be the Mission of the Pastoral Care Council to ensure recruitment and coordination of training that result in development of skills necessary for pastoral care, allows nurturing support, and assures pastoral needs of the parish are met by clergy, pastoral care groups and other pastoral groups.
