• Flu Precautions: Notice to Parents

Did You Hear the News? The Infant Nursery is Moving! Renovations to Huffman Hall are happening earlier than expected so the Infant nursery will be moving out of Huffman Hall for the summer. Our new location will be the Breezeway Conference Room (across from the entrance to the Ed. Building), starting Sunday June 13th. All hours will remain the same – nursery care from 7:45am until 12:00pm. Questions? Please contact Helen Pelkey, Nursery Care Coordinator 345-8314 x227.

    Fun In The Nursery

St. Matthew's offers excellent, experienced, child care for children ages infant to four years of age. Because of the small number of children on Sunday mornings who attend the 8:00 a.m. nursery, all children ages infant to 4 years of age are in the Huffman Hall nursery beginning at 7:45 am. At 9:00 am, the children aged two and over, are taken to the toddler nursery located in the Day School Building. Children from two to four years are entertained in the Day School Building nursery for the entire Sunday morning. Both the Huffman Hall Nursery and the Day School Building nurseries close at 12:15 pm. There is also a comfortable, soundproof room in the church Sanctuary balcony (Cry Room) for adults who wish to keep fussy babies with them during the Sunday morning service.

    Wonderful Nursery Staff

All of our nursery supervisors are CPR and First Aid certified. We always have at least two nursery workers scheduled at all times for any church function that requires baby sitters. We have a friendly and well trained staff who love playing and caring for your children while you are attending church or other events at St. Matthew’s.

Our nursery has a policy in place to promote the security of your children while they are in our care. A nursery employee will give you a plastic animal shaped tag that can be easily clipped to a child's clothing or a diaper bag. There are two identical animal shapes. When you sign your child into the nursery, you will receive one of the matching animal shapes and your child will receive the mate. One clip will be attached to the clothing worn by an older child or, if the child has a diaper bag, the clip will be attached to the bag. When you or another person picks your child up from the nursery, we will match the animal tag you are holding with the animal tag assigned to your child. This allows people who are not parents to retrieve your child from the nursery and lets our staff know that your child is going to a person who has your permission to get your child. However, we never release a child from the care of an employed nursery worker to a sibling if that sibling is a minor regardless if the sibling has the matching security tag.

We ask that you leave your cell phone number with us when you take your child to the nursery. This gives you the security of knowing you can be reached quickly should your child need you. And don't forget to change your phone from ring to vibrate before going into the church service!

The love and care supplied by our nursery workers have truly made our St. Matthew’s nursery a state of the art program. If you have any questions about our nursery or any of our nursery workers, please feel free to contact our Helen Pelkey, Nursery Care Coordinator. I look forward to visiting with you.
