Visitor Information

As you visit our site, you will see that we are dedicated to serving individuals and families in many ways.  We are a church that values scripture, prayer, fine music and worship on Sundays as well as helping families to grow in the knowledge and love of the Lord – and we have fun in the process!  We are deeply committed to serving those in need, not only in Austin, but around the world.

Our mission statement “to know Christ, grow in Christ and share Christ’s Love” says a lot about who we strive to be as a church.  We want everyone who attends our church to have an urgent sense of God’s love!  We believe that Christ came to love us and teach us how to love God and our neighbors.  We can never be reminded enough how important we are to God and how much God desires our cooperation in bringing grace and love to a broken and hurting world. We all need God’s grace (presence, forgiveness and mercy) in our lives.  At St. Matthew’s we understand that this requires a meaningful commitment from us, and that we need help each week to stay on the course of spiritual growth.

One of the most important resources we offer is the 10:30 AM Sunday service of the Holy Communion (Eucharist) with sermon and music.  We gather to share communion as a family, hearing scripture read and interpreted, offering prayers for others and ourselves, confessing our sins and receiving assurance that we are forgiven. The music is lovely, inspirational and high quality.  Most importantly, we are empowered by this time of worship to serve Christ in the world.  We invite you to attend our 10:30 AM Sunday service, or any of the worship services.  When you attend, please introduce yourself to me or to the Rev. When you visit us, be sure to stop by the Welcome Table in the sanctuary foyer after the 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM services on Sunday morning.  Church members are there to greet you and offer you a gift bag with a sweet treat inside and information about the church!

Elsewhere in this website, you will see details about our 10:30 am Family Eucharist that is a shorter, more child friendly version of our traditional Eucharist service on Sundays, our nursery, our Christian Education programs on Sundays and other times during the week, our youth ministry, Senior Activity Center, St. Matthew’s Day School and the many other services we offer the community, too many for me to detail here.  Please take a long look!
