Mary was raised in a house filled with music. Her dad was a fine amateur violinist and from the age of 11, Mary accompanied him at family gatherings and musicales. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Boston University and subsequently became fascinated with the inner workings of the piano and its ancestor the harpsichord.

Following training in piano and harpsichord technology, Mary moved to Austin in 1981 and worked for Mollberg and Associates Piano Restoration and at the University of Texas as a piano technician. Alongside her piano technology work, she has taught piano, sung in choirs, and accompanied all levels of choirs and soloists. She has served St. Matthew’s as the Family Service musician since 2017.

When not playing or repairing pianos or singing, Mary enjoys spending time with her husband and grown daughter and two springer spaniels; as well as cooking, gardening, hiking, and doing yoga.
