Traces of the Trade: A story from the Deep North

Looking forward to another offering of the Sacred Ground series on racial reconciliation this fall, St. Matthew’s will host for St. Matthew’s and Austin-area Episcopal Churches a screening of “Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North.” This film recounts one New England family’s involvement in the slave trade in the 18th and 19th centuries, where Northern businesses and communities condoned and benefited from slave trading. Their story illustrates how racism operates in ways people do not consciously recognize.
