Yong Sil Chun
Organist

Yung Sil Chun was born and raised in Busan, South Korea, and earned her undergraduate degree in Christian Studies and Social Welfare, from Ewha Women’s University in Seoul. Her journey as a church musician began at the age of nine, serving as a pianist in her father’s Baptist church, where he was the senior pastor. For more than thirty years, she has faithfully served as a church accompanist, bringing deep commitment and passion to worship through music. She also holds a Master of Music degree from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS), and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the same institution.
In addition to her extensive experience in worship settings, Yung Sil has performed organ and piano solo repertoire in numerous public concerts and recitals. Most recently, she taught private organ and piano students as an adjunct professor at NOBTS where she was also a recipient of the institution’s premier music scholarship. After relocating to Austin, Texas, Yung Sil joined St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in December of 2025, where she continues her vocation of supporting worship and serving the church community through music. In her free time, Yung Sil enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their two daughters.
