Sunday Adult Formation – 9:15 – 10:15 am
All Are Invited and Encouraged to Attend!
Topical Adult Class
Beginning 5/11: “Alternate Christianities: Heresies and Heterodoxy in Early Christianity,” with Dr. Thomas Keith. Sundays, 9:15 a.m., B18/19
Gnostics, Montanists, and Arians, oh my!
Why did Orthodox Christianity turn out the way it did, and not some other way? Starting Sunday, 5/11, come explore some of the directions Christianity might have developed in its early days, but for one reason or another did not. Some of these movements, deemed “heresies” by those who won the day, were brief cul-de-sacs; others spanned centuries and spawned their own scriptures and competing church governance, in direct competition with “Orthodox” (or perhaps, “proto-Orthodox”) bishops.
Beginning Sunday, 5/4: “Called to Community Learning Journey: Exploring Faith & Health”
with The Rev. Katie Leuba
Would you like to learn more about our community’s story? The needs in our area? St. Matthew’s resources and needs? Join with the Rev. Katie Leuba in this wonderful opportunity to grow in these areas, offered in cooperation with the Episcopal Health Foundation. Help us discover ways to build healthier communities, consistent with our Episcopal faith. Participants will:
· Deepen their understanding of how the Baptismal Covenant connects to health and the community structures that impact wellness
· Identify the strengths and needs within both their congregation and the surrounding community
· Explore and develop practical next steps for impactful community ministry
