The Rev. Allen Junek
Curate, St. Matthew’s Austin
Email: ajunek@stmattsaustin.org

The Rev. Allen M. Junek joined St. Matthew’s in July 2023 after he was ordained a transitional deacon in the Diocese of Texas. He is passionate about worship, evangelism, and the intersection of faith and public life. Allen’s ministry is informed by his conviction that doubt is not the opposite of faith—certainty is.
He is a native Texan, having spent most of his time in the Brazos Valley and the DFW metroplex. While studying philosophy at Texas A&M University, Allen came to faith and first felt a call to ordained ministry. He went on to earn his Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University and a graduate diploma from Bexley Seabury Seminary in Chicago, IL. While in Fort Worth, Allen met Jesus in the Eucharist, and has been an Episcopalian ever since. He was on staff at St. Thomas the Apostle, Dallas, before relocating to Austin to complete his final year at Seminary of the Southwest. While enrolled at Southwest, Allen served as the lay chaplain for the Episcopal Student Center at the University of Texas.
When he’s not at church, Allen can be found scoping out a new coffee shop or brewery, at the gym, or exploring the Austin food scene. He and his partner—Alex—enjoy traveling, trying out new recipes, and hiking with their 3 year old flat-coat retriever, Benji. He is excited to serve alongside the people of St. Matthew’s as together they witness to God’s dream for the world.
