The Rev. Katie Leuba
Rector, St Matt’s Austin, Austin
Email: katie@stmattsaustin.org

The Rev. Katie Lueba has been described by those who know her well as “a rock with a great sense of humor and humility,” who understands “how to live faith with challenges,” “puts pastoral care first,” and “knows God’s grace.” Mother Katie came to St. Matthew’s from St. David’s, Austin, where she served for more than eight years as Associate Rector and as their Locum Tenens during their rector search.
She was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, then made her way to the Dallas area by way of southern California (Claremont McKenna College and working retail for May Company after graduation). In Texas, she worked for Neiman Marcus in the buying offices before attending seminary at Perkins School of Theology at SMU. She has been a Director of Children’s Ministry, a Youth Minister, and a Family Minister. She was ordained in the Diocese of Chicago and served there for a couple of years before heading to St. Andrew’s in Elyria, Ohio as their Rector.
Katie has been married to her husband Jimmy for about a quarter century and they have three children, one still at home, and three dogs – Milo, Otis, and Sargent. Katie spends time hiking, doing yoga, and sometimes working on a quilt. And reading. Tons of reading. Most of it fiction with lots of truth in it.
